Snapping turtles will eat anything they can catch. They often eat baby geese and ducks, pulling them underwater until they drown. They also eat fish. Snapping turtles have very powerful jaws, and can even snap off one of your fingers if you get too close. I saw a full grown Canada goose pulled under and drowned at my local lake. Unless it was Nessie, the only culprit could be the watermelon sized snapper that lives there. Frightening, but as my friend says:"turtle's gotta eat".
Snapping turtles are opportunistic feeders and may eat a goose if they are able to catch and overpower it. However, snapping turtles typically feed on a diet of fish, insects, amphibians, and small mammals rather than large birds like geese. Factors such as size, hunger level, and available food sources will influence whether a snapping turtle would target a goose as prey.
They are all types of turtles : the snapping turtle, sea turtle, and box turtle.
The alligator snapping turtle is a larger species known for its distinctive ridged shell and worm-shaped lure on its tongue, used for hunting. This species is also more aggressive and typically stays in water. The common snapping turtle is smaller, lacks the ridged shell, and is known for its algae-covered shell and more varied diet.
