Imagine that YOU are a rabbit. You happen to know that there are large animals out there to kill and eat you. They are called, "Predators", and include cats, coyotes, hawks, owls, and so forth.
So you find a really thick bush, especially one with thorns, so you can hide safely in it. You have really long and strong hind legs for leaping and running super fast, so you can run away from the predators. Best of all, you go out and about to eat when it is dark out so the predators have great difficulty in seeing you. If they cannot see you, they cannot kill you and eat you.
