-Wet tail is when a hamster gets diarrhea, which means all the water in it's tiny body is coming out in it's feces. This is highly dangerous, because now the hamster does not have any water in it's body and is becoming weaker and weaker, and gets dehydrated. Eventually, the hamster gets too weak to come get some of his water or food... leaving nothing to keep him/her alive.
-Diarrhea is just something hamsters get. Humans get it, but when hamster's do.. it's life threatening.
-You can cure it by everyday examining his feces. If it is too moist, runny, or soft you should be concerned. You don't have to take it to the vet, just take the hamsters water bottle (should have came with the cage, if you don't have one, I suggest you run down to your local pet store and by an individual one.) up to wherever the hamster is laying, and let it suck some water out until it seems satisfied. You should probably do this every half hour to keep it hydrated. (Just think if you were a tiny little creature, with no strength left to walk... you would want to be pampered so you don't... well, die!) Also, bring some food up to the hamster... and pretty soon the little guy/girl will have enough strength to take care of itself! For a week or two, really examine and observe your hamster (especially it's feces!). If everything is normal and your little buddy is running around and being itself again after a week or so, then congratulations, you just saved your pets life!
-If you do this, and things don't seem to be getting any better, or seem to be getting worse, definitely take it to a vet right away.
I hope this helps you, and good luck!
Wet tail is a bacterial infection that affects a hamster's digestive system, usually caused by stress. Symptoms include diarrhea, wetness around the tail area, and lethargy. A vet should be consulted for proper diagnosis and treatment, which typically involves antibiotics and supportive care to help the hamster recover.
If your wondering how they get it, it's because they come in contact with bacteria. It is usually spread from coming into contact with food or water that has feces in it. There are store products but it usually just covers the problem instead of helping them. I would schedule a vet appointment ASAP.
Here's a site to give more information on it. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/pic/article.cfm?aid=2282
No they cannot. It usually can kill them in 48 hours. You should make an appointment at your veterinarian hospital.

And other things that may stress them out.
Wet tail is when a hamster is stressed and they have a bad case of diarrea.
I will insert some signs. Hamsters are PREY animals so they don't show signs until they are really ill. You should give them weekly health checks WEEKLY becauase that can stress them out but to only do it weekly it may be fine. Regular health checks may save your hamsters life.

Late Signs
Here I will insert some treatment rules.

Change their bedding at least each day

Well, all I know is that "wet tail" is a very deadly sickness to hamsters... If you hear that your hamster has wet tail, take it to a vet!
Yes, hamsters can eat small amounts of lettuce as an occasional treat. However, iceberg lettuce should be avoided due to its low nutritional value and high water content, which can lead to digestive issues. Opt for darker, leafy greens like romaine lettuce in moderation.
Wet tail is a serious intestinal infection in hamsters that can be fatal if not treated promptly. Treatment typically involves oral antibiotics prescribed by a veterinarian, along with supportive care such as providing a warm and quiet environment, ensuring the hamster stays hydrated, and offering easily digestible food. It's important to seek veterinary advice as soon as wet tail is suspected to give the hamster the best chance of recovery.
I am a virtual assistant and do not have a physical form, so I do not have a hamster or any other pets. If you suspect your hamster may have wet tail, please consult a veterinarian as it can be a serious condition that requires medical attention.
I'm sure they do considering the fact when hamsters lick me its wet :) -from A.L.B.

They could get wet tail which is very deadly. It's when a hamster sleeps in their own urine (eewww) and then in the area where the tail is, it would be wet. There is only 1 cure for wet tail but it rarely works.
