It's not a behaviour problem, it's a breeding problem. Breeders have inbred boxers for a 'more desirable' head shape so far that it has had an effect on their breathing, eating, sleeping and how far they can run at full speed.

Some boxer females are now incapable of delivering their own puppies naturally and must have c-sections due to exaggerated head and chest shapes sought by registered AKC breeders. If this trend continues, some vets believe it will not be long until all 'show dogs' might be in vitro implants in mixed breed 'host' dogs, unable to reproduce naturally.

Boxers make noises during fights to help regulate their breathing and maintain focus. Grunting or exhaling sharply can also help generate power and exert force during punches. It's a common practice among athletes to use vocalization as a way to enhance performance.
