Actually they eat a certain kind of nutriants underneath the water where there are alot of baterica. Gulping down water and spitting our throught their bills of bacteria. Without dunking their head under water they feed with their bills up side down with their large upper acess to the bill by floating. Since the food is so microscopic they must feed for hours and hours almost4 gallons of water a day to get enough to eat.
