Argus means lightening. Odysseus did exist, he did shuffle down a whole in the ground to a tomb for as The Odyssey says he was a captive in Egypt and he did see a tree headed hound down there but Homer only mentions it once when Odysseus says he met the ghost ofHeracles who says did you see that Hell hound down there. Why doesn't Homer make more of it. Yes you can still see that Ghost of Heracles, its still to be seen which means Odysseus was there andsaw it being built c 1188 BC. How did blind Homer know about that shipthat Posedion turned into a rock outside Sidon's harbour. When Odysseus landed near Sidon theriver mouth the Kingsdaughter found himwasthe River Awali. The Odysseus is an alibito placate wifeand turn a captiveking into a hero and it wasn't Homer who created it but Odysseusand Phemeusson ofTerpes was the first to sing it
