Horses might need blankets during the winter if they are outside. If your horse is inside a warm stable, you probably do not need a blanket.

Horses also need a blanket if they have been exercising and it is cool, because they can sweat and lose too much heat.
A horse only needs a blanket over the winter if it doesn't have a thick winter coat grown in. If it has a good winter coat, all the horse will need is a place to get out of the wind (a windbreak or a stable) and it won't need the blanket at all. Horses can tolerate much colder temperatures than humans can, so they do fine in all but the coldest weather (below zero Fahrenheit).

Horses typically need blankets in the winter when temperatures drop and they are unable to generate enough body heat to stay warm. The specific season will vary based on your location and climate conditions. Be mindful of your horse's body condition, coat thickness, and shelter availability when determining if they need a blanket.

horses DO NOT need blankets, horses were introduced to blankets, and did horses wear blankets in the wild when there weren't any humans to pampere them ?? no! so horses do not NEED blankets horses actually prefer colder weather then warmer climates.

There are many kinds of horse blankets used to protect an animal from extremes of weather, for cosmetic purposes, or to help dry - or keep dry - an animal after exercise or washing. Since horses' needs vary between areas throughout the world it's advisable to contact a local horse supplier to discuss suitable products for your area. It's okay to use the countless products or methods which weren't in use hundreds, or thousands, of years ago, if they are beneficial in some way!

Depending on where you live depends on whether or not your horse should even need a blanket. My rule of thumb is if it drops below about 20 degrees F. Horses have a natrually thick fur during the winter and it is usually enough to keep them warm. Just be sure that you horse isn't sweating with the blanket on because it could lead to many health problems. Make sure you blanket isn't to big or small either for it could drag and catch on something or restrict you horse from doing normal activity such as lowering its head to eat and drink. The main thing during the winter is to allow some sort of shelter and lots of food to keep their body fat up.

A good way to tell if your horse is cold is to touch his ears. If they are cold, he is. If you clip your horse, it may need a blanket in the winter.

What season of the year should a horse always need to wear a blanket?

Which season of the year would you put a blanket on a horse?

You would put a blanket on a horse in the winter to save him from getting a cold or even dieing. However, if you do not clip your horse, it is better to leave him unblanketed. To tell if your horse is cold enough to blanket him, touch his ears. If the are cold, he is most likely cold. If they are not, he is fine as is. Also look for abnormal behavior. If he is standing listlessly with his head down, something is wrong, and it may be that he is cold.

Which season is it common to breeding your horse?

Horse breeding is commonly done in the spring season, as mares are in their natural breeding cycle during this time. Spring allows for the foal to be born during more favorable weather conditions and have time to mature before winter. Additionally, daylight length and temperatures are key factors that influence the breeding season for horses.
