Charles Darwin reached the Galapagos Islands on September 15, 1835, aboard the HMS Beagle. He was the ship's naturalist, and the expedition allowed him to study the unique species of plants and animals that would later influence his theory of evolution by natural selection.
Charles Darwin at age 22 embarked on a voyage on a ship called the Beagle, as ships naturalist and companion to the ships captain. The voyage was suppose to last 2years but did not return to England for five years.

Ship money refers to the tax that Charles I of England collects without the sanction of the parliament. It is one of the factors that led the Civil War.
they had to pay money to the king (Charles) when they barley could afford to pay for themselves .
it was called "ship money"
ship money is a tax that king Charles intruduced while he shut down parliament for 11 years. ship money was normally used to improve army in times of war. but there was no war then. and people had to pay it who had to drive miles to see the sea. Charles just wanted the money all to himself ,as parliament owned all the money and he had shut it down. people who refused to pay ship money was put into the star chamber!by eleanor ince:)hope i answered your question!
In 1641 it was made illegal after Charles took it a step too far by making everyone pay it.
around 1633 King Charles I started ship money because he had got rid of Parliament and he was running out of money so he decided to use a tax that only occurred in the time of war and at that time Britain was not involved in war so because of his Divine Right he thought he might might as well use ship money to get more money
