Usually you have either wood boring bumble bees and or carpenter ants. Termites also do damage to wood.
Bee's leave a distinct circle shaped hole from their stinger, because they tend to nest in those holes in the wood.
Carpenter ants bore in wood as well. They usually like trees though.
Termites bite through any thing wooden and are dangerous in and around the home. If you have them in your home, i suggest you get someone out there immediately to get rid of the pests before they damage your home permanently.
Almost all groups of insects have at least some members that live in trees. It is estimated that there are many millions of types of insects, perhaps up to 30 million or more, and this estimate was made by studying the canopy of the tropical rainforest. Thus, the answer is that most types of insects live in trees. The largest group of tree-dwelling insects would undoubtably be beetles, which comprise the largest group of insects, and the largest group of animals, in the world.
An insect is the type of bug that eats plant roots. Common examples include cicada nymphs, clearwing moth caterpillars, cutworms, ground pearl scales, Japanese beetle grubs, June beetle grubs, mole crickets, Phoenix billbugs, raspberry cane borers, root aphids, root maggots, rose chafer grubs, and weevil grubs. Cutworms also may be included if they are other than the non-root-eating climbing, spotted, or variegated varieties.
Predation of above- and below-ground parts, exterior and interior parts is the way that insects attack crops. The type of mouthparts, for instance, as chewing, piercing/sipping, siphoning or sponging, predicts whether roots or shoots will be attacked. For example, piercing/sipping mouthparts largely will be associated with breaking through leaf, stalk and stem exteriors to access internal, nutrient-rich xylem or sugar-rich phloem.
Animals such as monkeys, squirrels, koalas, and various birds are known to live in trees. They use trees for shelter, protection, and as a food source.
Bees will sting birds when their beehive is under attack. However, birds tend to be quicker at consuming the insects before the bee can attack.
Cuckoo-shrikes primarily feed on insects, such as caterpillars, beetles, and grasshoppers. They may also eat fruit, berries, and small reptiles or amphibians. They are known for their agility in catching prey while flying.
Dead trees are perfect for nesting. Diseased trees often bring insects and worms to decompose the debris. So there is plenty of food for birds and their offspring.
Woodpeckers hunt and eat insects living under the bark, so they must make a hole in or remove the bark to get to the insects.
Woodpeckers attack trees that are infested by insects...that is what they are after. So trees that are less likely to suffer insect infestation are MORE likely to be left undamaged by woodpeckers. I don't know of any tree totally impervious to insects.
It is the strong smell in the trees that keeps the insects away.

Insects won't have that much shelter and will lose their habitat by not having trees.
deforestation affects insects because deforestation is the cutting down on trees and without trees the insects will die without a home. ( the trees)
Most insects eat the leaves.
Tree living insects eat trees as the insects bite on the leaves and some may even chew on the trees wood piece

Opportunities for breeding, feeding, and sheltering are reasons why insects live in trees. Trees offer parts on which to feed as well as spaces on which to breed, feed, and lay eggs.
Many insects live in trees and woodpeckers eat insects.
Trees that have limbs cut can get fungus or insects. Consult an arborist.
Bats eat a lot of insects, and many insects damage plants and trees. Edited answer: Bats help in the dispersal of seeds
