Guinea pigs can suffer from a number of different illnesses. If your guinea pig is sneezing and has a runny nose they could have a cold or they can be allergic to the bedding you are using. Guinea pigs can suffer from Diabetes and it is important to keep them at a healthy weight and not feed them too much sugar. They can also develop cysts or abscesses. Scurvy can be caused if there is not enough vitamin C in their diet. The most common ailment I have seen is dehydration. Alot of times a guinea pig that has been on antibiotics will be lacking the bacteria in their stomach that is needed to digest their food. This will lead to soft stool. The guinea pig will quickly become dehydrated and should be taken to a vet that is a small animal expert immediately. Bene Bac is a tube of the bacteria that needs to be replaced in their belly. The first sign your guinea pig is not well is mucus in the eyes. Also look for eating and pooping habits.

Guinea pigs are prone to respiratory infections, skin issues like mites and fungal infections, dental problems, and urinary tract issues. It's important to provide a balanced diet, clean environment, and regular veterinary check-ups to prevent and address health problems in guinea pigs.
