Guinea pigs can suffer from a number of different illnesses. If your guinea pig is sneezing and has a runny nose they could have a cold or they can be allergic to the bedding you are using. Guinea pigs can suffer from Diabetes and it is important to keep them at a healthy weight and not feed them too much sugar. They can also develop cysts or abscesses. Scurvy can be caused if there is not enough vitamin C in their diet. The most common ailment I have seen is dehydration. Alot of times a guinea pig that has been on antibiotics will be lacking the bacteria in their stomach that is needed to digest their food. This will lead to soft stool. The guinea pig will quickly become dehydrated and should be taken to a vet that is a small animal expert immediately. Bene Bac is a tube of the bacteria that needs to be replaced in their belly. The first sign your guinea pig is not well is mucus in the eyes. Also look for eating and pooping habits.
Male Guinea Pigs are called Boars, female Guinea Pigs are called Sows, and babby Guinea Pigs are called Pups. A group of Guinea Pigs is called a Herd. :)
well.... guinea pigs might not be wild, but wild cavies, simalar to guinea pigs, are wild.
No! Do not give guinea pigs tang!
Some dogs can get along with guinea pigs. Mine however would eat our guinea pigs if they got the chance.....
Adult guinea pigs are simply called "guinea pigs." They do not have a separate name to distinguish them from younger guinea pigs.
Guinea Pigs like humans cant live forever and eventually will get to the age that something will go wrong, sometimes guinea pigs get illnesses or they are injured, its the cycle of life.
No. Humans and Pigs don't share many illnesses.
Yes. I know you can get ecoli and ringworm if you're not careful. Just think about. How many guinea pig die because their owner played with them while they were sick? If we can pass illnesses on the them, then they can pass them on the us.
it means your guinea pig is hyper if it normally is hyper take it to the vet
