The term FAB used in the Show 'Thunderbirds' from my recollections as a kid my friends and I always thought it stood for "Fully Acknowledged Broadcast" as you hear Virgil say to Scott :
"Thunderbird One to Thunderbird Two Virgil did you get that?
To which Vigil would reply "fab Scott" "message received and understood"
But I'm really glad to see so many people are still interested in a show I idolised when I was eight years old in the UK .
I'm now 52 and Portsmouth seems so long ago but its nice to think I might give something back to a show that gave me more enjoyment than I can ever remember having in those early days in England.
Thanks to all those who asked? "What does FAB mean"

Yes, brontosaurus does mean "thunder lizard". The name is derived from the Greek words "bronte" meaning thunder, and "sauros" meaning lizard.

'Fab' was a 1960's abbreviation for the word 'Fabulous' and along with 'Groovy' was a popular word at the time. It was included in the series Thunderbirds as the phrase 'F. A. B.' to replace the more usual 'Roger, over and out,' which was used to end radio transmissions. Originally 'F. A. B.' had no meaning but after many enquiries from viewers the series producers decided that it was an acronym for "Fully Advised and Briefed."
Tilted Thunder Rail Birds was created in 2008.
Fully Advised and Briefed "F.A.B." was what each character said at the end of any radio transmission, to acknowledge the instructions were received. Of course, this caused viewers to speculate what the letters stood for, since they never revealed it on the show. In fact, F.A.B. didn't stand for anything. In 1965, the hot "buzzword" in Britain was "Fabulous", or "Fab" for short (ever heard of the Fab Five? Get it now?). Gerry Anderson decided that would be International Rescue's special sign-off, and even named Lady Penelope's Rolls-Royce "FAB-One".
The Thunder Birds currently use the F-16D Block 52 aircraft.
