You can feed them they're normal food the first couple of weeks, then about week for start adding a good quality puppy food to their diet and gradually increase their ration of puppy food and decreasing their adult food till they are eating mostly just the puppy food. The puppy food should be fed throughout lactation also to help the pups grow, then gradually decrese her rations of puppy food and increase her ration of normal food till she is back to her regular diet.

I'm not an expert or a vet but I have alot of experience being present when puppies are born. One of the first things that I noticed is the dog goes from acting like they are starving to death hungry to not eating at all. They also start looking for a place to nest. If they are out doors they will find a private place and start digging in the ground. If you bring them in the house they will start looking for soft things to bring into the nest IE: rugs, blankets , news paper, ect... My dogs become very clingy and want me by them constantly although I'm not sure this is normal behavior. My dogs get very nervous and pace... but they continually go back to there "Nest". They will lay down for awhile and then they get up and pace some more. If you are going to bring them in the house give them a place they can be alone but yet have access to you. My dogs have always let me know its time. They will go too the spot they pick to have their babies but they will constantly come and make sure I'm paying attention. Again I don't know if this is tipical for all dogs but every time one of my dogs have had a litter this is how they have acted. I have two females and both of them have acted the same way.

During pregnancy, dogs may exhibit changes in behavior such as nesting, increased appetite, and seeking more attention from their owners. They may also experience physical changes like weight gain, enlarged abdomen, and mammary gland development. It is important to provide pregnant dogs with proper care, such as regular vet check-ups, appropriate diet, and a comfortable, quiet environment for whelping.

stay with the mother and then when the puppies get older the dad teaches them, but later on in life the dad will mate with any female puppies to keep their genes in the family. also the father will urinate on the male puppies showing a sign of dominance over them.
