Question is if you should do anything about it at all. White tigers have always been extremely rare, and only marginally lifeworthy to start with due to the poorer camouflage offered by their coloring. Might be better to focus on preserving the normal tiger instead.

Although popular in zoos, white tigers are rare. The last known sighting of a white tiger in its natural habitat was near Rewa in Central India back in 1951. This male tiger was captured by the Maharaja of Rewa and named Mohan - it is this animal that most of the white tigers in captivity today are descended.

Panthera tigris is not pure white but has brown stripes and blue eyes (chinchilla mutation). Although, the white tiger is not a true albino, it's white coloration makes surviving in the wild extremely difficult.

There is some concern about the keeping of white tigers in zoos. These cats, are by nature, extremely inbred and possibly not of pure bred Indian descent. Some suggest that they are taking up valuable cage space and breeding resources and this is to the detriment of other pure bred and more threatened sub species.

To prevent white tigers from becoming extinct, we can support conservation efforts by protecting their habitats, enacting laws against poaching and illegal trade, and promoting sustainable practices that minimize human-wildlife conflict. Additionally, breeding programs that prioritize genetic diversity and species well-being can help maintain healthy white tiger populations.
