Trimming a turtle's nails should be avoided unless they are excessively long and causing issues. If necessary, you can gently use pet nail clippers or a Dremel tool to carefully trim the tips of the nails. Take caution not to cut the quick, which is the blood vessel inside the nail, causing bleeding and discomfort. It's recommended to seek guidance from a veterinarian who has experience with reptiles.
In the panhandle of Florida it would be a Florida softshell turtle. They can be very large, up to 18 inches long. They have extremely sharp beaks, and have a very nasty temper. They can stretch their necks back and bite you, so don't handle this turtle.
depends on WHERE the nail was bit. if it was directly off of the foot then robably not depending on the damage beneath the skin. if it was only bitten off the nail then yes like us turtle nails can grow back. think of it as clipping your nails.

Yes, putting nail-polish on your turtle's shell does not harm it, and it is actually a common practice for breeders or sellers to put a small dot of nail-polish on a turtle's shell to mark it. While a small dot of nail polish is fine, please do not consider painting more of the shell than this, as the shell could get infected because nail-polish is toxic. Today my two sisters bought a turtle each and put them in my tank with my own turtle, Tilly, and it was hard to tell the difference between them. We researched if it was ok to put a dot of nail polish on their shell, and now our turtles are easily told apart- one purple, one orange, and one blue! I hope this helps :)
