In the wild, they will lie in the shade and mostly doze until they get hungry. Then they will usually sneak up to a herd of grazers and check if there are young among them that might make an easy catch. Often they make a few trial runs to see if there are animals that are for any reason slow on the uptake, lame or otherwise easy to catch. Then they (the females, to be exact) usually make a clustered attack, focusing if possible on the young or the infirm. They usually get them by tripping them up or by tackling them from behind, swiping their hind legs sideways. Then they clutch their windpipes with their jaws, suffocating them.
In captivity, they prove to have an excellent biological clock and get restles exactly a few minutes before feeding time. After that, it's just collecting the steaks.
