It really depends on what breed of chicken is used and what age it is

Broilers/fryers are considered mature at 42 to 49 days old and weigh 4 to 5 pounds

Roasters are usually older and weigh 6 to 8 pounds.

3 Whole Chickens.

Some folks can eat 1 piece some can eat 2. Lets average at 1.5. Each chicken has 8 pieces.

To serve 1 piece per person you need 1.5 chickens. For 1.5 pieces per person you need 2.25 chickens. Round up to 3 and enjoy the wings.

This is based on serving side dishes. If serving chicken alone I would multiply by 1.5 and round up. That would make 5 chickens.

5-8, depending on the size of the chicken and, of course, your appetite.

I would think a 1/4 of a chicken each would be OK which means you would need 25 large chickens.
