The black widow spider protects itself by utilizing its venomous bite. When threatened, it may inject venom into a predator or perceived threat through its fangs. This venom can be harmful, or even fatal, to other animals, serving as a defense mechanism for the black widow.
A cobra can deliver a lot more venom in its bite than a black widow can and comes into contact with more people in asia, so i would say the cobra is more dangerous. However the black widows venom is reported to be much more toxic than the venom of a cobra but a black widow cant deleiver much venom in its bite as its fangs are too small to usually inject the lethal amount of venom.
The three species of widow spider (Western Black, Southern Black and the Brown Widow) are all established here in Hawaii. They are not indigenous, having found their way here most times in freight or fruit coming from California. They are normally shy spiders and will only bite if cornered and threatened - or if you go after the egg sac. Males tend to not bite as their mandibles are very small - it is the female of the species that should be watched out for.
Black widow spiders are carnivorous and primarily feed on insects such as flies, mosquitoes, beetles, and other spiders. They catch their prey by using their sticky webs to ensnare insects that get caught in them. Once trapped, the black widow spider will bite its prey and inject venom to immobilize and digest it before consuming it.
Black widow bites may initially go unnoticed, but symptoms can develop within a few hours. Pain at the bite site, muscle cramps, sweating, and nausea are common symptoms of a black widow bite. In severe cases, the symptoms can escalate to include severe abdominal pain and muscle stiffness. If you suspect you have been bitten by a black widow, seek medical attention promptly.

They bite when they feel like they are in danger and when they hunt their prey.
No but what is poisonous is the FEMALE bite, the male's bite is not venomous.
no way the bite is deadly
Dr. Jerry Balentine's quote: "The black widow is about a half-inch long and symptoms of bite include abdominal pain, ... The bites of very large spiders such as tarantulas can be painful." I think it would take a long time.
