Usually all bats catch their prey through echo-location.Some bats like the fruit bat can see in light as clearly as we do.Though no bat has been found yet that can see in the dark like cats. But the eyesight of the fruit bat is wasted as all bats are nocturnal mammals. Bats use echolocation to locate their prey in the dark. Once they have detected a target, they use their wings to scoop up insects or dive down to catch them with their sharp teeth and claws. Some bats also use their tail membranes to trap insects in mid-air.

Bats have sharp teeth for hunting and feeding on insects. Their sharp teeth help them quickly capture and consume their prey, which often includes small insects that they catch in flight. The sharp teeth also aid in processing the tough exoskeletons of their prey.

Do bats use their eyes or their ears to catch prey?

Most bats catch prey using their ears through a process called echolocation. They send out a high pitch (high frequency sound) which is above the human hearing range, and this sound echos off of their surroundings. Their ears are designed to catch this echo, and then they process the echos to get a sort of "mental image" of their surroundings. See Related Links for more info.
