Sharks are streamlined due to their torpedo-shaped bodies, which help reduce drag as they move through the water. Their bodies are also covered in tiny, V-shaped scales called dermal denticles that reduce turbulence and increase swimming efficiency. Additionally, their unique fin shapes and placement contribute to their streamlined design.

Streamlining allows the shark to swim at a given speed with less physical exertion. Since an organism never really knows what its energy reserves are going to be, it is always prudent to prepare for possible scarcity, by using energy efficiently.
