Lastly they have what is called a tapetum lucidum. This helps increase the amount of light hitting the retina, and is placed at the back of the eye, behind the retina. It acts as a mirror to relfect any light back to the light sensor cells of the retina, and this gives the tiger's eyes the glowing effect when caught in a beam of light at night. But they don't glow on their own, they need the light beam, or flash in the night.
