If you want to use wood shavings, the only safe choice is Aspen. Never use cedar or pine because they contain toxins that can cause respiratory illness such as pneumonia. Carefresh bedding is ok, although somewhat dusty. Both Aspen and Carefresh can be found in the small animal section of most pet stores
Probably paper shreddings or just lots of sawdust. Never use fibre bedding. Its very dangerous and it killed my haster by suffocation!
I'm a different person than the person with the suffocated hamster. THATS SO SAD!!!!!!! I feel so bad for you!! i never really had alot of hamsters, most of them were my dads. i had one named Buffin. He was awesome. but he died. i don't know why. i just thought i should say that cuz were talking about dead hamsters, so...
my teddy bear hamster just died of old age. And i had a golden hamster but he got out of his cage and my cats and dogs acidentally killed him. But teddy bear and golden hamsters are the best they are sweet and fun to play with and never bit me once. i would definatly recommend golden or teddy bear hamsters. ;)
Pine, cedar, and other aromatic wood bedding has been shown to cause tumors in small rodents. It may also cause lung problems, and may injure their feet. Most pet stores carry much safer alternatives, such as recycled paper bedding. It doesn't have the nice cedar smell, but it actually keeps the cage in better condition for a little longer. It is also much easier to spot clean. It absorbs the urine and dries, instead of allowing it to all pool at the bottom. The soiled pieces are stained, and can be easily scooped out between cage cleanings.
Pine and cedar beddings, as well as scented products, can cause serious respiratory problems in small animals.
CareFRESH bedding is made from virgin reclaimed cellulose and is all natural, biodegradable and flushable in small quantities. The patented CareFRESH formula is free from dust and contaminants like pine or cedar oils, so it is safe for your small pet.
No! The wood in pencils has bee treated with chemicals, and has fragments of graphite still on it, which could be toxic to your guinea pig (not to mention it will make them very dirty.) Also the wood is too sharp and fragile to be good bedding. It can hurt their delicate feet and get in the eyes or throat.
Pine or aspen wood shavings are generally safe for lionhead rabbits, as long as they are kiln-dried and free from additives or chemicals. Avoid cedar and other aromatic woods, as they can be harmful to a rabbit's respiratory system. It's also important to provide a soft bedding material in addition to the wood shavings for comfort.
You can buy baled white wood shavings for horses at farm supply stores, equestrian supply stores, or online from retailers that specialize in horse bedding products. Be sure to check the quality and type of wood shavings to ensure they are safe and suitable for your horses.
YES! I know a horse that actually died when someone accidentally put cherry shavings in its stall. Never use cherry shavings. It can cause laminitis, colic, death, and many other health issues.
Some types of hamster bedding that can be toxic or harmful if ingested include cedar and pine shavings, as they release aromatic compounds that can be harmful to a hamster's respiratory system. Corn cob bedding can also pose a risk if ingested in large amounts, leading to potential blockages in the digestive system. It's best to opt for safe bedding options like aspen shavings or paper-based bedding.
Wood shavings or maybe even toilet paper.
Most pet shops have good quality pet bedding. I would not recommend using fresh wood shavings or sawdust as they can be dusty and dangerous for your hamster. You can get it from blowoutbedding.com ,here a collection of bedding available where you can choose your choice bedding.

any shavings EXCEPT cedar that will kill your hamster very quickly
It would not ruin your in-sink erator. It would not be good for your drain, but if you only put some wood shavings in the disposal accidentally once, it would not ruin it.
This would NOT be a good idea. Clothing can cause the animal to get tangled and trapped inside and may cause suffocation issues. Use any wood shavings for bedding or shreaded clean paper. Not newspaper as the ink on the newspaper can be toxic to small animals.
The best nesting for hamsters would probably be CareFRESH Ultra, because wood shavings can harm your hamster by giving it cancer or liver disease.
chips/shavings/what-have-you...of WOOD(GASP!).
Most any shavings, but avoid pine, cedar, and "fluffy" or "soft" bedding. You could even use shredded paper, but no newsprint or "shiny" paper. Really any shavings you could use for a gerbil or hamster.
Definitely not cedar wood shavings.
yes any type of tree shavings are fine but not ones that are thin because the hamster might choke and die ;( (i miss my hamster)
2000 lbs of anything makes a ton (feathers, wood shavings, mud etc.)
