Yes but DO NOT try to take in a full grown raccoon or a baby with a mother! Only young orphaned raccoons! I know someone who has a raccoon and it's best to let them free when they start getting into things and try to let them go far away when you know they can live on thier own outside. Remember raccoons arewild animals and when they are babies they will seem sweet and all but when they get older they WILL NOT be afraid to bite especially when they feel threatend! The raccoon I know is all grown up now and he will follow you around and people naturally get scared when a wild animal is following them so people jumpand scare the raccoon then BOOM he will attack! So take caution if you do take one in and know how to take care of him/her!

In most areas it is illegal to hold wildlife as pets. It is best to check with local law enforcement (game wardens, animal control officers) to find out local regulations. However, as a person who has raised many, many orphaned baby raccoons for a local wildlife rescue group for many years, I strongly urge you NOT to attempt to keep a raccoon as a pet. They do not make good pets and you will be exposing yourself to potential deadly parasites and diseases, not to mention very sharp teeth and claws.
