No, silverfish do not harm you. However, they do like starches, glue/paste, cotton sugar and such things. Therefore they eat the glue off the back of wallpaper, clothes, and cereal. Even if you never spot them in your cereal, you might be eating their eggs when eating your cereal. :( GROSS!!

Silverfish will happily eat anything with sugars, starches or polysaccharides. They are fond of the glue that is used in bookbinding, but will eat paper, cotton and other similar materials too. Apart from the damage they do, they are harmless to humans.

Interesting note: silverfish date back about 300 million years, to way before the first reptiles and dinosaurs.
