Guinea pigs, like any animals can absolutely get stressed for a variety of reasons. If you are adding a new guinea pig to your pet family, be sure to keep it in a quiet place for the first few days. While you are trying to acclimate it to its new environment, be certain to use positive reinforcement (fresh vegetables, grain or other pet store-bought yougurt treats work quite well).
For other stressful situations (like taking your pet on a trip) can be made less stressful by placing your guinea pig in a small carrier with either pine shavings or a clean towel at the bottom and draping a towel or small blanket overc part of the cage to make it quiet and dark.
place toys in your cage for your guinea to play with.
