It was the time period after WWII to pretty much 2000, when many disillusioning things happened. Disillusioning as in things that were lied about, things that weren't known, unknown danger/death, things that the government kept from the people. In a nutshell it was a bunch of lies. A few examples would be all the conflict we had with the Soviet Union and the Vietnam War. The Cuban missile crisis is good example.

The age of disillusionment is typically associated with a period in a person's life, often in young adulthood, when they start to lose their idealistic views and become more realistic about the world and their own experiences. It is a time when individuals may become more critical of society, institutions, and their own beliefs.
