That is subjective and depends on personal preference. Maximum Ride and Twilight are both popular young adult book series, but they cater to different tastes. Maximum Ride focuses more on action and adventure, while Twilight is a paranormal romance. Ultimately, it comes down to what genre and storyline resonates more with you.

Well, I guess this answer is more of an opinion, but to me, Maximum Ride IS better than Twilight. Here's why:
Twilight is more of a love story. And there are so many 'vampire love' stories out there, it's not really a new story. Bella meets Edward at school in Forks, Washington and they sort of fall in love. Then Bella finds out Edward is a vampire. But she loves him so much, she's not afraid of him. Their "love life" goes on and on and on in the next 3 books.
On the other hand, Maximum Ride is a new idea developed into a new series. Max and her 5 other 'brothers and sisters', Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy, and Angel, were all created by scientists at the School. They are all 98% human and 2% avian. (bird) That 2% means a lot because these kids have wings! In all, there are 6 books, the 7th on comes out on Feb. 14th, 2011.
I'm not saying Twilight isn't bad, you would like it just as much as Maximum Ride, but Maximum Ride has it all: Action, adventure, romance, and more. So, basically, whichever one sounds best to you. You choose if Maximum Ride is better than Twilight.
The Vampire Academy Series is a little like the Twilight series, I personally loved it and it is soon going to be a movie series as well. As for the Maximum Ride series they are a series all on their own and I have yet to read anything like them. Also the Mortal Instruments series is a great series most Twilight readers enjoy.
Other good books similar to Twilight are The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith. Any of her books are really great, I started to read them after I read the Twilight novels and I was very pleased.

Here's my answer: I've read both series, and they're both great! But Twilight is more of a romance, and there is action, but mainly just romance, which is great, don't get me wrong, but the whole Vampire thing is getting played out. Maximum Ride is original, and it is a T H R I L L E R! It has it all, action, romance, mystery, humor, angst, its such an amazing series! I've read both series twice, and i still say, Maximum Ride is better! they don't really compare cause they have such different plots, but they're both great, respectable series, and in my opnion, Maximum Ride is BETTER! I've read both series, and i think Maximum ride is better. They both have very unique plots, but maximum ride is def more original. and i was never really into romances. but twilight still was very good.
