To quote directly from the book's description of Jack... 'Inside the floating cloak he was tall, thin and bony: and his hair was red beneath the black cap. His face was crumpled and freckled, and ugly without silliness. Out of his face stared two light blue eyes, frustrated now, and turning, or ready to turn, to anger.'

In "Lord of the Flies," Jack's face becomes increasingly savage and distorted as he embraces his primal instincts and descends into barbarity. By the end of the novel, his face is described as having lost all traces of civilization, marked by smudges of paint, wild eyes, and an overall feral appearance.

Jack's appearance changes from the beginning to the end of the novel. He has red hair, and is wearing a black cap and a cape with a clasp at the beginning. In chapter 3, his hair has faded to a sandy colour, and he wears a pair of tattered shorts held up by a belt with a knife on it.
Towards the end, when he becomes the tribal leader, he is completely naked except for a knife belt, and has paint all over his skin.
