There was no communism in ancient Rome. Communism arose 1,400 years after the fall of Rome, in the 19th century.

That said: Marx considered Spartacus to be a proto-Communist, a slave who led a revolt against the property-owning senatorial class.

Socialists in the 19th century also saw the Gracchi brothers as some sort of proto-socialists. However, these were overstretched views. Socialist and communist ideas arose from the industrial revolution and the rise of capitalism, and conditions which were totally different from those of antiquity and therefore uncomparable. Moverover, Spartacus and the Gracchi did not have a clue about what those words meant or their concepts. The former was just involved in a rebelion of escappes (who by the way had no intention to challenge the senators), the agrarian reform of the latter two was based on private property, not the joint owenrship of the means of production.
