We fought the Korean and Vietnam wars as well as many other smaller wars. We saw the fall of communism in both the USSR and Germany. Huge advances in science have occurred, allowing us to understand DNA and the human mind more fully. We have also experienced a technical revolution as the computer and digital technologies came to the forefront. We have the internet and a much more global mindset. That's some of the sweeping generalities that have occured since the end of the war in 1945.
