Henry's empire was much larger than the mere island named Britain. It extended to cover almost half of France, stretching from the Scottish Border to the Pyrenees in Northern Spain. In such a large kingdom, Henry had to travel energetically and extensively, to fend off invaders. He defeated the Scots, and later made William the Lion pay homage to his country.
Multiple people; the Tudor family ruled for a good part of it though- Henry VII, Henry VIII, and Elizabeth I
The Tudors liked King John, this was the time when King Henry the 8th ruled. Henry did alot of things John did, lke quarrelling with the pope and chasing after women! The Tudors had sympathy for King John when he lost France because King Hnery had problems with the French. Also Tudors admired John for standing up to his Barons because Tudors did not expect Barons to interfere with anything. Hope this was helpful xx
This was something I had to write about in a history essay but a topic in which i could seek no anwsers. Sorry x
There are a lot of things but one of the world events is that Princess Diana died in a car crash. She was the princess of England and used her powers of royalty for good things.
1. Tensions existed in England in the 12th century between church and state. The Archbishop of Canterbury was the head of the church in England, answerable only to the Pope, and he and King Henry II often differed over church rights.2. When the archbishop died, the king had his close friend and chancellor, Thomas Becket, made archbishop. He did this believing that Becket would side with the king in all matters out of friendship.3. Becket - who had lived a good and luxurious life before this - performed his duties as archbishop with surprising sincerity. When a priest was arrested for murder, Becket insisted that he be tried (as was the custom) in an ecclesiastical court, not in a civil one. His dispute with the king over this and other church-state matters led to his self-imposed exile in France for several years.4. When Becket returned to England, he and the king made a shaky peace. The king, still troubled by Becket, said to some of his knights in a fit of anger, "Can no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?" Many doubt that Henry really intended to have the archbishop killed, but four of his knights rode to Canterbury Cathedral where Becket was saying Vespers. Though sensing that his life was in danger, the doors were unbarred, per his directions. Becket was murdered before the altar, one sword blow cutting off the top of his head, his brains scattering on the floor.5. He was soon declared a martyr, and Henry II did public penance at his tomb, which later became a shrine, a site of religious pilgrimage for centuries. It was destroyed by order of King Henry VIII some 400 years later during the Protestant Reformation, when the king confiscated the riches of the shrine, and ordered the saint's body to be burned. Many though think that it was secretly reburied by cathedral monks and still exists. A book on this topic is titled "The Quest for Becket's Bones", by John Butler.Hans J.
Which Henry? There have been 8 in England, and at least 4 in France, maybe some elsewhere.
he made the church of england
Henry VII wasn't a good defender, and he wasn't a very nice person either. Henry VIII was a good King, and looked after England well, but was a womanizer and wasn't very nice to his wives.
He was King of England, the father of two future kings of England, a good warrior, and the reason for the murder of Thomas Becket.
he made a lot of good changes to England and made England a lot better
Henry made England and wales a joined country so we had the same kingHestrengthened england by the union but doomed wales in theproses. He didn't do anything good for wales
Depends on where you start counting and who you include. Henry VI is as good an answer as any.
it is all about opinions! some think Henry was a wonderful man others think he was not! he did many good things but he also did many terrible things! when he was young most everyone would've said good but as he grew older some changed their minds so it is really up to you if you think he was bad or good! he was quite good for England but as a king you decide!
Henry the VIII was a good king because he set up the church of England and he was a well educated man he also made England a stronger country during the war of the roses However Henry was also a bad king because he destroyed all ministries and nunneries he also killed many of his wives. Henry also took money from the church and spent it on himself
i think Stephen the king of England was a good king because he took the over the throne once he had crossed the English channel but he had to receive help from his brother Henry of blois.stephens reign was successful despite a series of attacks on his possessions in England and Normandy from David 1 of Scotland. this is what i think.
I assume Henry the forth of France was a good king because i did some research about him on Google and found out he was a good king.
my friend it is king henry because king john is a good king in them days
