Gun made by Savage as 6 with A, AB, B letters that follow. Stevens numbers 76 and 87, in tube feed and same with other companies but this one is a Sears. Stocks also are the same as Stevens & Springfield models 87 tube feed. Numrich mostly has them but as of this writing, they are sold out.lc Jones

your gun was made by Savage arms in the 50s Vendor code 101 means Savage Stevens model 16 means model 87 semi automatic 22 cal .These were very accurate and reliable rifles These guns were made in huge numbers and parts are readily available. Parts and stocks are avaiable from Numrich arms gun parts corp..West Hurley NY. I have found this supplier very reliable . Remember 101 16 is really a Savage Stevens model 87.
All of the Ranger 101's were made by Savage/Stevens. Records for these "house brand" guns (made to be sold under another name) are scanty at best. If you can provide a detailed description, we might be able to narrow it down. Needed is action type, barrel length, stock style, checkering if any, and finish.
No browning did not,but winchester made a ranger model pump action shotgun.
