The Ithaca Model 49 serial numbers aren't explicitly recorded with the manufacturer's other products because this saddle gun was made for sale by Sears Roebuck (model 340.530430). It was sometimes called the "Ted Williams" model. The numbering scheme indicates yours was most likely made in 1969; pre-1968 Model 49s apparently didn't carry serial numbers because they weren't required by law. The Model 49 was manufactured between 1961 and 1979, but Ithaca began phasing out production in 1973. The 1962 Sears retail price was $19.99; the current auction value is approximately $80 to $150.
