A total of 34,628 Model 57s (1959-1965) were made. The more popular 57M, in .22 Magnum (1959-1969) sold 66,889 rifles. Retailed for about $40 in the early 60's. As to the manual, you'll have to keep seaching the internet, gun shops, etc. You could try calling Marlin Fireams, but, I wouldn't be to hopeful that they would have any 30+ year old manuals lying around.
