.300 Savage. This ammo is getting harder to find. You used to have a choice of 150 or 180 grain bullets. The last few years I have only seen the 150 grain offered. If you want to buy online I know Able Ammo does carry .300 Savage. It's a good caliber. I have taken several deer with the same rifle you have.

These were made for Gamble's Stores by Savage, and are caliber .22 LR.
marlin 35 cal. lever action. rifle/ Marlin makes the rifle ,but not the ammo for it.
Assuming it is in good condition to shoot any modern day ammo, yes.
approx. $40-60. I just sold mine last week for $55 with a box of ammo
It seems this caliber is slowly fading. I get mine from Able Ammo.
It could be the ammo. That would be the first thing I would check. Hope this is helpful.
The cheapest firearms ammunition is .22 rimfire. The Savage, Marlin, Winchester, Ruger and Mossberg rifles are all good rifles. The Savage 93 is a very good bolt action. The Marlin Model 60 and the Ruger 10-22 are very good autoloaders.
Winchester never manufactured a "33-70" cartridge. Winchester did make a 33 W.C.F., and a 38-70 W.C.F. cartridge, both of which were chambered in the Model 1886 lever-action and the Model 1885 Single Shot rifles.
In order to determine what ammo is appropriate for your Marlin rifle,i Would need to know what model of marlin you have?Is it a model 1889,1893 etc.I would also need to know what markings are found on the barrel(40-60,38-40,40-65 etc.)this will all assist in the correct ammo for the rifle in question. Please repost your question with the info required to help you determine the correct ammo for your rifle.
