The Mossberg model 85 was manufactured between 1934 and 1937 making it and parts rare and obsolete. The original model 85 shotgun is not to be confused with the models 85A, 85B or other that followed. The model 85 came in 2 1/2" and 2 3/4" inch 20 gauge fixed 3 shot box magazine . The shotgun has only one extractor on the right side of bolt and a super long ejector that mounted on the side on the left of receiver. I attend 60 to 90 gun shows and auctions every year and depending on bidder or buyer I have seen prices paid between $250 and just over $500.00 for this particular shotgun depending on condition. It is a true collector antique peice of history and should be handled as such. Any refinishing attempts voids the value by 65% so have a good gunsmith remove any rust or other issues. $75-100. Well made, durable, reliable, but not a hot collector's item. Basically the gun of the working man, farmer, or young shooter.
