Your Glenfield model 25 was made in the year 1973.This is accomplished by subtracting the first 2 digits of your serial number from 100.Hence 100-27=73(1973).
Subtract the first two digits of the serial number from 100 and that will be the year of manufacture for this rifle. 100 - 27 = 73 "1973"
Numrich Arms has a schematic of it.
The Marlin No.27-S slide pump rifle uses the Winchester 32-20 shell from Remington Ammunition and was still available in 1993 as noted in my 1993 Gun Digest ( the last edition I have) and may still be available now.
Probably the Model 27.
Date on your 336 is 1973. The formula is subtracting the first two digits from 2000, so 27=1973.
There should be a Model Number on the rear tang of the receiver, is the rifle a pump model. This could be a Model 27 or 29, they had some non standard ammo in these rifles, some calibers you can get and others are rare. Its hard to value a rifle with out knowing the condition. This rifle could be purchased for 75.00 poor condition parts gun and could be worth as much as 300.00 in eighty percent condition. There are limited edition models that will bring higher price, engraving, custom stocks and butt plate. Emmett
The model started out as the model 27 in 1909, and with the improved safety as the 27S in about 1911. Yours is likely from 1911-1912 time period.
The Marlin firearms Co.made the Model 27 slide action rifle in 25-20WCF from 1910-1911.It had a 2/3 tube magazine,7shot,24in octagon barrel with open sights, and a plain straight grip stock. It also made the Model 27S which had a safety button on the right hand side of the receiver in either round or octagon barrel.this was made in the year 1913.I hope that this helps.
Marlin Carter was born on 1912-12-27.
The Winchester Model 67 is a single-shot bolt-action .22 caliber rifle with a barrel-length of about 22". The Winchester 67A is a different , later, improved model of the pre-war model 67. The 67A has a 27 inch bbl, not a 22". This rifle also came in a short-stocked, 20 inch barrel version, which was, in fact, known as "the boy's rifle." The standard 67A is NOT the boy's rifle.... the "boy's rifle" is a sub model of the 67A.
I found an ad for this gun parts service using Google. They list this rifle as one they can supply parts for. They list a phone number to call too. Good luck. http://www.jackfirstgun.com/catalog.html
