The US military rifle made at the Springfield armory as the "Model of 1898" is better known as the Krag-Jorgensen (readily identified by the box magazine on the right side of the receiver, instead of underneath). Up until the late 80's, Springfield Armory (actually Springfield, Inc, and no relation to the old government armory) imported the Mauser M98, and in 1995 the CZ 98.
