I wish I knew the answer to this as well as I have the same gun. The only thing I can offer is that it should be noted that it has an octagonal barrel and a falling block/breech, and most importantly the patent date is April 17, 1894 NOT April 1794. J Stevens A & T was only in business between about 1886 and 1914 approx. this is wreckmaster96739, i have in my possesion a j Stevens a and t co. u s patent apr. 1794,it's a 22 long rifle ser. # 40279. it was my grandfather's grandfarther's gun. It would have been manufactured between that date and 1916 when the company was sold to New England Westinghouse. We will still need all the markings on the rifle, as there were several different variations of Boy's Rifle.
