yes if they have a record of the serial numbers on the notes
Go back to the store where you bought it.
Go to the seller where you purchased the gun.
Dmv or somthing to that nature.
Ask your local police to run it.
Yes, it is possible as long as it is a registered gun that was obtained legally.
You can't- unless you are a law enforcement officer. However, if you are concerned that a gun you are considering buying may be stolen, see if your local law enforcement will run the serial number for you.
It is not a good idea to post on the internet the serial numbers of your weapon. Someone could report it stolen and even if you have proof of purchase it will be a real hassle for you to remove it from the stolen guns list.
Was thinking of buying a used firearm to defend my home from invasion. But how do I know if its stolen? Call your local police department and have them check it in NCIC. You may have to bring it in so they can confiscate it if it is stolen.
No, I doubt if such a list exists, and if it did it would only be accessable to law enforcement officials. There are lists of serial numbers reported stolen, but these are not available to the public either. gun stores can run serial numbers. but they might charge a fee.
That's not information which can be readily looked up, not to mention that serial numbers are not unique to one firearm - a make and model would be needed, as well.
Theoretically, yes. For instance, it could be stolen by an employee. However, such a gun would be illegal to sell in most countries. In US, there are some guns that may be made legally without serial numbers. It is legal for any person to manufacture a firearm for their own use, provided they are not barred from owning guns by law and the firearm in question does not fall under NFA regulation. Such guns do not need serial numbers.
