∙ 12y agoThe hammerless version was made by Iver Johnson from 1910 to 1924, and sold only through the various mail order houses, such as Sears. A total of 107,650 of the .38 Hammerless models were made, and if yours does not have a letter at the start of the serial number, it was made in the first year of production- 1910. You will need to remove the grips to view the serial number on the frame- THAT is the one that may or may not have a letter. A letter E on the frame would place it in 1921.

Model 1901 Iver Johnson, semi-hammerless, automatic ejector single gun.
The model number should be stamped on the barrel just above the trigger guard.
