Ranger was a brand name used by Sear & Roebuck in the 1930's. The rifle is actually a Stevens Model 87A. I have one which my Dad ordered from Sears in 1938 and another one I picked up at a gun store for $50. These rifles have very complex mechanisms but there is no plastic and they last forever with proper care. I have completely disassembled both my rifles and given them a thorough cleaning and light oiling with silicone to the moving parts. Both my rifles, from a sandbag rest, will still hold one inch groups at 60 yards. As far as I can tell, they were made from 1938 - 1968 with very few modification and those were only cosmetic. By the way, use the lightest oil you can find; 22 ammo propellant is usually very dirty.
