The value depends on several things including age, model, barrel length, quantity of magazines, and can range from $500 - $2,500. The best way to assess value would be to post it for sale accepting offers on a site that specializes in AR-10 rifles. From a quick search I found this site by searching for "AR-10 for sale" http://www.ar10t.com where you will likely find resources to help you assess the value.

Who is the inventor of the m4?

No one can claim solo credit for making the world first M4. Eugene Stoner invented the AR10(7.62x51mm) in 1955 but it was turned down by the army. In 1960 Stoner's chief assistant, Jim Sullivan and Robert Fremont scaled the AR10 to take the smaller 5.56x45mm cartridge naming it the AR15, the army classified it as the M16 and the M4 is just a cut down M16. In the mid 1960's Colt made the CAR-15 which was the first attempt at making a M16 both more compact and modular to fit any need the Military may have, but never made it to full production. Over years of the Car-15 and others like it have become the M-4 we know today. I know long answer.

Is there a fully automatic 308?

There are full auto weapons capable of chambering the .308 Winchester, yes, although these were actually designed for the dimensionally similar (but not identical) 7.62x51 cartridge. M14, AR10, CETME, G3, FN FAL, just to name a few.

Is colt firearms manufacturer out of business?

Well if they aren’t out of business you wouldn’t know it. Can’t find a Colt AR10 sr901 nowhere. Then again they might be afraid of the far left. Dealers I talk to haven’t recieved orders they made along time ago. if they aren’t out of business it looks that way.

Was m14 used in World War 2?

Yes, the M14 service rifle was standard issue to the US Army & US Marine Corps riflemen; and both the Army & Marines landed in South Vietnam armed with M14 rifles. The M16 Assault Rifle was "considered" to be a "jungle rifle" for use only in Vietnam during the mid 1960's (reference US Government wall posters at Fort Ord CA).

Are there any semi auto weapons in 6.5 Swede aka 6.5x55?

Yes. AG-42, later converted into AG-42B (also known as the Ljungman) is a semi-automatic weapon chambered in 6.5x55 previously used in the Swedish army. BAR has also been made in 6.5x55 but is very rare. Luvo makes a newer rife based on the AR10 design called LA-11. There has also been an unknown number of prototypes of weapons in 6.5x55 including G3 and Galil.

Are you allowed o hunt with an assault rifle in the state of colorado?

There is no legal definition of "assault rifle". If you mean an AR15 style rifle, then it depends on the rifle, and what you are hunting. An AR15 firing .223/ 5.56mm can be used for small game. For big game, the rifle may not be capable of holding more than 6 rds of ammo, and must be .24 caliber or larger, with 1000 ft lbs of energy at 100 yards. The AR15 in .223 will not meet those standards. A larger AR, such as the AR10, could meet them. No fully automatic firearms may be used for hunting.

What is the best sniper rifle?

"It would have to be bolt-action and see what rifles the government use" Not always. The government sometimes goes with stuff that is cost effective. I have an SR-25 in .308 / 7.62x51 and it is just as accurate or even more accurate than most bolt action rifles I have compared it to. Asking this type of question is like asking "What is the best car?" The answer is totally subjective to the task. The SR-25 is a fine rifle which in the hands of a trained and skilled shooter is very capable from mid to the lower spectrum of long range and it's kin, the U.S. Army's M110 is extensively used in combat by Army snipers and designated Marksmen in Afghanistan. It has been the rifle of choice for the U.S. Navy SEALS snipers for many years. While a semi-auto. It uses the AR direct impingement system. Which allows greater follow-up shot capabilities than a bolt rifle. For greater range and caliber options and bullet weight. A bolt rifle in .338 Lupua is the choice of many long range precision shooters. Accuracy International Inc. Makes a number of offerings to various military and civil law enforcement including the British Military and the very capable Canadian military snipers, both groups using them to good effect in Iraq and Afghanistan. There are many other calibers available for bolt rifles which are not practical for the AR10 type platform due to chamber pressures. The U.S. Marines make their own based on the Remington 700 action. The M40 series. The U.S. Army does their M24 on the Remington 700X40 receiver. Both are capable weapons system. Most commonly chambered in 7.62X51mm NATO. But the action may be chambered in many different calibers. 7MM mag, 300 Win mag, .338 Lapua. Both the U.S. Army, U.S. Marines and Canadian military also use the Barrett M82 series of .50, 12.7×99mm NATO as a Special Application Scoped Rifle. Military Snipers are a force multiplier. They allow long range targeting of enemy personnel and material. They interdict, harass and inhibit the free action of the enemy to good effect. The weapons used are designed to function in many different conditions.
