There is a generally accepted number of about 89 guns per 100 people in the US. However, that does not truly reflect the ownership rate, since many gun owners have more than one gun. A more accurate rate would be an ESTIMATE of about 25-30 persons out of 100 own 1 or more firearms. It is an estimate, since in most of the US there is no requirement to register firearms with a government agency.
