mine was on the front of front motor mount
there is no code. merely send in serial number found on right side of frame just above trigger. ................the serial number is then looked up to determine year of manufacture....
You can use community services like http://www.etk.cc to decode VIN.
Find a copy of the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson, sn data is in it.
The serial number is on the frame.
frame
the serial number is on the front of the frame under the rack and the vin number is on the left side under the shifter on the frame
That's most likely the frame serial # not the VIN #. While in some cases they are the same, the format was AAAN-NNNNNNN where A is a letter and N is a number.
The frame number can usually be found on the underside of the bottom bracket. With that you might be able to track down the year-if you find someone who can tell you how to decode the frame number.
the frame.
Open the cylinder and look at the frame that is usually hidden by the crane. The serial number is stamped on the frame.
When you release the cylinder from the frame, you should find the serial number at the base of the frame and on the crane at the swivel.
