Remove the magazine. Operate the slide, check that there is no ammunition in the gun. Place the safety in the safe position. Pull the slide back and lift the rear of the slide clear of the frame, and gradually let it move forward off the frame. When the slide and the action spring are free of the frame, the safety will slide out of the frame to your left. Stop. Do not take the gun apart any further.
