I have a Kawasaki KTR27A string trimmer and I am very disappointed that Kawasaki's Owner's Manual did not include instructions on how to put new string in their trimmer. The challenge was getting the spool out. I finally figured out that you need to depress the center bumper and turn it clockwise. It will move easily to a stop, then turn it just a little harder and you will feel it move a little more. That releases it and you can pull it straight out. Then, just wrap new string on (direction is indicated on the spool), feed the two ends out through the holes in the head, and put the spool back in making sure not to have any of the new string underneath the spool. Then depress the bumper and turn in counter-clockwise to set it in place.
One String at a Time!
stick a flat head screw driver in the slot above head and turn counter clock wise.
On most of them you hold the top part with one hand and turn the bummer/spool clockwise (looking from the top)and pull it straight down/outward
you don't change yyour American girls head you can if you take the string that's attached to her head untie it and then lift it out of her body put it back in by slipping it innto the hole then tying the string

The manual can be found at the link below.
remove head pull shaft out
any time you change, remove, or tamper the strings it will change how the head will throw. depending on how your other shooting strings are set it will either create more whip or take some off. but yes you can take the U string off
The Kawasaki 110 cylinder head bolt torque specification is 120 pounds. The cylinder head bolts should be torqued in 30 pound intervals.
There's either a steel or flexible shaft inside the tube between the engine and the head. That shaft is broken. Or if it's solid, it rusted inside the head
Put both strings in those designated holes at the same time (unlike Stihl) and simply twist it right-left. (There is an indicating arrow.) That's the hard part. Next, stuff it in the encasing put it through the gider holes, then make sure it is all the way down in the encasing. Lastly, pull the string taught and this should pop it out of the inside gider holes. I've put lots of hours on weed wackers and I must say I am sorely dissapointed in kawasaki. It is one of the most horribly engineered pieces of equipment in my opinion. For instance, no matter what I've done in replacing this trimmer cord, there is ALWAYS problems feeding. I've even had "professionals" put it on. If one is smart, they'd stay in the same money bracket and go Stihl. Seriously, there is no comparison for ease of use, durability, engineering, etc. I HATE my kawasaki products. I bought them to support a local store. Choice gone awry. . .
