Iver Johnson no longer offers any service on their M-55's and other selected models. If you need service take it to your trusted gunsmith. Thanks and email if you have any other questions.
Best bet is to take it to a gun shop
NO.
Just pull on the top part of the forend and it will snap right off
The term "Owl's Head" refers to the trademark used by the Iver Johnson Company, an AMERICAN gunmaker. At this point, we do not have enough information to identify your handgun. Your best course will be to take it to a gun shop for identification. Values on the Iver Johnson 22 revolvers are generally not high, and will depend heavily on condition and the exact model- and typically ranges from $50-$150.

Before 1934, gun companies did not have to put serial numbers on handguns. From 1934 to 1968 only handguns had to have serial numbers, and rifles and shotguns only had them if the manufacturer wanted to put them on voluntarily. You might have an older Iver Johnson that was made in the early 1900s to the early 1930s that was made without any serial number. I'd take the grips off and look all over for any markings. If you want to identify this gun, register for some gun collector's website and read about old Iver Johnsons and post good clear pictures of yours, with close-ups of any writing or marks. Chances are some Iver Johnson collector will be able to tell you what you have and when it was made.
take it to a gunsmith dummy :)
If it is in very good shape I wouldn't take any less then $250.00 (I have one serial #388xx and you couldn'y even touch it for less..
It takes about 10 hours to drive to Tampa from Johnson city.
To remove the slide from an Iver Johnson TM22PB Trailside: (1) pull the slide back (2) push down on the take down button (top of the slide in front of the rear sights) (3) push the slide forward (if you did this correctly the recoil spring is pinned and the slide will not be forced closed). (4) take the side grips off (5) drift the mainspring housing pin out (6) remove the mainspring housing (the spring is pinned so there's no worry of anything launching). (7) take the slide off Cheers
