George Worthington was a hardware store in Cleveland, Ohio, from about 1890 to 1935. Single barrel shotguns were marked with his name by Crescent Arms Co and double barrel shotguns by J. Stevens Arms Co.
Crescent manufactured shotguns from 1888 to 1940. They sold a million utility shotguns that were "branded" by hardware stores and the like. Typical value is $85 to $150.
Simmons Hardware was a large chain. In the early 1900s, many companies sold what were known as "Hardware guns" or "store brand guns". One manufacturer, Crescent, made over 2 million shotguns under more than 400 different store names. If you owned Fred's hardware store, if you ordered 12 shotguns, Crescent would make them, and they would be stamped Fred's Hardware. Such was the case with Simmons (they bought a lot more than 12) Unfortunately, there are limited records, since shotguns were not regulated as they are today. 12 g shotguns were most common, 20 g less common.
Trade name used by Blish, Mize, and Silliman Hardware of Atchinson, KS. @ turn of the century plus.
None that I can find in the Catalogue: Crescent did make what was known as Hardware rifles (Shotguns) for various hardware companies, and eventually became part of Savage arms co. You may be thinking of Crosman BB guns, they are still in business today.
