Yes, but the patch would need to be thin, normally you would fire a .490 ball and a .15 patch, so a .10 patch in this case would be a good place to start.

Is a black powder gun a center fire or rim fire?

None of the above. A black powder gun uses a lead ball or conical bullet that is packed into the breech on top of the powder with a small piece of cloth wadding. These bullets are solid, and have no built-in primer like modern firearms. In a black powder firearm, the powder is in a small bowl on the top of the firearm. The spark from the spring-loaded flintlock strikes the frizzen, dropping a shower of sparks onto the gun powder.

What is a black powder firearm?

There are generally 2 types of BP firearm, 1 muzzleloaders, loaded with powder cloth patch and lead ball or mini ball (also powder and a sabot and bullet in the more modern guns. 2 Black powder cartridge guns, that fire a more conventional looking self contained cartridge loaded with black powder and a bullet. such as the 45-70 or the 30-30 ( first number is the caliber second number is the grains of black powder in the cartridge. 45 caliber with 70 grains of powder) I am greatly generalizing

Did the bullets get stuck in the fire chamber of the 1861 springfield rifle?

the 1861 springfield was of the cap and ball type. gun powder was poured down the barrel then a lead bullet was also tamped down the barrel over the powder. the powder was ignited with a percussion cap. if the powder was wet or damp, the rifle would not fire. the shooter would then have to place a worm screw on the end of his cleaning rod in order to extract the lead bullet and powder. as outlined note there is no bullet chamber other then the barrel itself.

How was a flintlock rifle loaded and fired?

How would load your powder and ball down the barrel ram it down to make sure it's tight in the barrel then you would put powder in the pan when the flint hits the metal it creates a spark lighting the powder in the pan then lighting the powder in the barrel making it fire.

How do you load a flintlock rifle?

With the muzzle pointed up, a measured charge of black powder is poured down the barrel, and the rifle may be shaken or the butt thumped on the ground to settle the powder. A bullet (typically a round lead ball) is placed on a small greased cloth patch at the muzzle, and pushed into the barrel with a starter rod. Once inserted, the ramrod is used to push the bullet down the barrel, until it is resting on the powder charge. The rifle is them brought to a horizontal level, the cover of the priming pan (known as the frizzen) is opened, and a small amount of fine priming powder is placed in the pan. Once the frizzen is closed, and the hammer cocked, the rifle is ready to fire. The process may vary slightly if the shooter is using paper cartridges. These are tubes of thin paper that hold a bullet, and a measured charge of powder. Thee were bitten or torn to open the tube, powder poured into the barrel, and paper/ball rammed home with the ramrod.

Are black powder rifles classified as center fire rifles?

NO.

Can a convicted felon in CT own a black powder rifle?

Not unless it was manufactured prior to 1898 and is classified as an antique. The problem with owning one even then is that under 18 USC, felons are not permitted to possess explosives, and black powder is an explosive. Therefore, even if you lawfully owned a genuine antique, you could not legally poossess the powder to fire it.

How much gun powder can you have?

That will depend on the local laws, such as the fire codes, and the type of powder. Black powder is an explosive, and is typically more restricted than smokeless powder. Check with the Fire Marshall where you live.
