Palmetto shot guns were made by Crescent Fire Arms Co. Crescent made firearms for many different companies and gun outlets. Crescent made a decent gun...............
At least one company that made guns marked with the Tru Test label was Crescent firearms.

Guns with the name EVER BEST were made by the Crescent Fire Arms Company of Norwich,CT (1892 to 1931). Crescent made guns under more than 100 different trade names- usually sold by your local hardware, Feed & Seed or General Store. Many of these were made in the black powder era and ARE NOT SAFE to fire modern shotshells.
Ranger was a Sears Roebuck trademark. The guns were manufactured by several makers. If you have a model number, it may be in a cross-reference list. See http://www.e-gunparts.com/crossref.asp
I'm not quite sure what you are asking, but there would be no connection between Crescent-Folsom and Mossberg. Crescent would not have made any guns for Savage-Stevens, but in 1932, the Stevens Division of Savage purchased Crescent from Folsom and continued to make many of the Crescent private-label guns.
The first step is to figure out who MADE your firearm- Sears did not make guns- they were made for Sears by several gun companies. The website for gunpartscorp has (at the bottom of home page) a cross reference list that may give you a match- and they have used parts for many guns.
I have two bookcases full of reference books- and THEY do not show ALL of the guns that have been made. There is no one list.
Trade name. Made by Crescent. 50-100 USD value.
Most likely, yes. Essex was a trade name used by Crescent-Davis firearms Co on shotguns made for the Belknap Hardware Co of Louisville KY back in the 18 and 1900's. The term "Hardware guns" is derived from the Crescent Co, as they made guns for just about anybody, and would put any name on the gun if you ordered 10 or more.
Savage did here is a cross reference link http://www.gunnersden.com/index.htm.gun-cross-reference-1.html
Not listed in any reference I have seen.
